A 16-year-old girl allegedly committed suicide by consuming some poisonous substance in Dhaulana town of Hapur district, police said here today.
The teenager, identified as Ashu, had allegedly consumed poison at her residence on Thursday following which she was admitted to a private hospital in Sahibabad here where she breathed her last yesterday, SHO Haridayal Singh Yadav said.
On receiving information, Sahibabad Police reached the hospital and took the body into the custody, he said.
The reason behind her extreme step is not known yet, he said.
The body has been sent for postmortem and viscera samples have also been preserved to ascertain the exact cause of her death, Yadav said.
The case has been transfered to concerned police station Dhaulana, the SHO added.
