: Five persons were killed in two separate road mishaps in Coimbatore and Nilgiris districts today.
Three persons were killed on the spot and three others, including a five-year old boy were injured when the car in which they were travelling turned turtle at Mavanallah, about 30 km from Udhagamanadlam in Nilgiris district, police said.
The injured were admitted to the Government hospital in Udhgamandalam and referred to the Government hospital in Coimbatore.
Overspeeding and sudden application of brakes was the reason for the vehicle turning turtle, police said.
In another mishap, two persons on a motorcycle were killed when the two wheeler collided with a van at Karamadai, about 35 km from Coimbatore, police said.
