A five-year old boy died after falling into a drain during heavy rains here this morning.
The Kamrup Metro Deputy Commissioner M Angamuthu has ordered a magisterial inquiry into the incident and announced Rs 1.5 lakh as immediate relief to the next of kin, an official release said.
A resident of Barshapara area of Guwahati, the child Joydeep Chakraborty probably slipped into the drain in front of his house during heavy rains.

Later his body was fished out by the police, the district information officer said.
The authorities have ordered an inquiry into the incident by Dispur Revenue Circle Officer (Attached) Prashanta Kathkotiya, who will submit his report within three days.
Angamuthu visited the site and said the owner of the house encroached the drain and house was constructed on the drain.
In the morning, heavy rains lashed the city, leading to water logging in different parts of the city, the district administration official said.
The city roads were clogged and it led to massive traffic jams across the city that continued till afternoon.
