Train services disrupted in Kamrup district

Train services were disrupted today after agitated locals blocked the railway tracks following a mishap at an unmanned railway crossing at Boko in Assam's Kamrup (Rural) district, officials said.

The DN Chilarai Express hit a car at the Bondapara unmanned level crossing but there was no casualty as the driver of the car had jumped out of the vehicle.

Locals stopped the train and squatted on the railway tracks demanding a manned level crossing as similar incidents had occurred on the same spot earlier.

Train services along the route were disrupted.

Senior police and railway officials have rushed to the spot to persuade the agitators to lift the blockade.
