A Jajpur district court has sentenced a 60-year-old man to life imprisonment after finding him guilty of murdering his sister-in-law about 20 months ago.
Additional District and Sessions Judge Rohitlal Panda yesterday convicted Babu Bai of Haripur village under Sukinda police station for the murder of Jayanti Bai (40) on March 9, 2014.
Babu Bai was also slapped a fine of Rs 25,000.
The court examined 18 people as witnesses during the trial in the case.
According to the prosecution, Babu Bai and Jayanti had a quarrel over some domestic issue on March 9, 2014, and, in a fit of rage, he hit her on the head with a crowbar killing her on the spot.
