With north-easterly winds blowing in Rajasthan, mercury further dipped at many places with the hill station of Mount Abu recording a minimum temperature of 8 degrees Celsius last night, a MeT report said today.

Mercury slipped down by one to three degrees Celsius last night due to cool breeze blowing north-easterly, it said.

Mist or partial fog was also observed on a number of national highways including Jaipur-Delhi, Jaipur-Alwar- Bharatpur and Sirohi-Abu Road routes.

On the plains, Churu was coldest with 9.2 degrees Celsius followed by 9.6 degrees Celsius in Sriganganagar, which was about two degrees below normal.

Pilani recorded a minimum of 12.8 degrees Celsius, followed by Jaisalmer at 13 degrees Celsius, Jodhpur 14 degrees Celsius, and Jaipur 14.6 degrees Celsius, about two to three degrees Celsius less than yesterday.

Actual winter days will prevail in the state by weekend once the wind pattern which is said to be in transition is settled, specially northerly, the forecast said.
