The Congress' Dehradun district committee (rural) has expelled seven office bearers from the party for six years on disciplinary grounds for vandalising the state party office recently.

Those expelled from the party include Mahila Congress district unit chief Shaheen Bano, District unit spokesman Jai Kishan Raturi, district vice president Rakesh Chaudhry, district organisational secretary Santram, district general secretary INTUC Niraj Tiwari, Pradesh organisational secretary, minority cell, Moin Khan and chief block convener Seva dal, Gita Maurya.

The letter of expulsion signed by District Congress Committee Dehradun (rural) Yameen Ansari said their action was gross violation of party discipline which had inflicted immense damage to the organisation.

Angry supporters of party leader Ayendra Sharma who had been denied a ticket from Sahaspur Vidhan Sabha seat had vandalised the party's state office here for two consecutive days on Monday and Tuesday tearing poasters of chief minister Harish Rawat and PCC president Kishore Upadhyay.
