Seven persons were killed and six others injured this evening when the jeep they were travelling in fell into a gorge near Devprayag in Tehri district.
The accident occurred at about 4.30 PM when the jeep with 13 passengers onboard skidded off the road and fell into a 200-metre deep gorge at Pant village about 6 kms from Devprayag, Devprayag police station SHO said.
The jeep was carrying the passengers from Rishikesh to Karnaprayag when it met with the accident.

Seven bodies have been recovered from the spot while six injured persons have been pulled out from under the remains of the vehicle, the SHO said.
All the six persons were rushed to Shrinagar base hospital from where one has been referred to Rishikesh, he said.
This is the second such incident in Uttarakhand in as many days.
