A 70-year-old man was today trampled to death by a tusker in Odisha's Dhenkanal district.
Divisional forest officer(DFO), Dhnekanal, Pradipta Kumar Sahu said the lone tusker came across the old man and trampled him to death at Pallikateni village.
The department of forest and environment has already paid an assistance of Rs 10,000 to the victim's family and his kin will get an ex-gratia of Rs 2.9 lakh based on the post mortem report, the DFO said.
