756 people arrested in arms case in Nagaland

A total of 756 people were arrested in 671 cases of arms and ammunition during the last five years in Nagaland, Home Minister Y Patton informed the state Assembly today.

Out of the 671 cases since 2010, 639 had been prosecuted, while 32 cases were pending, Patton told Congress MLA S Hukavi Zhimomi.

Minister for National Highways Nuklutoshi said Rs 164.89 crore were received by the state for repair and maintenance of National Highways during 2013-14.

Congress Legislature Party Leader Tokheho Yepthomi said that compared with other states, the National highways were in pathetic condition.

Responding to the supplementary query of the Opposition MLA, Nuklutoshi said there was no corruption in utilization of the funds while the projects were being monitored by the National Highways Authority of India, Regional Office, in Guwahati.
 

Parliamentary Secretary for Urban Development Zhaleo Rio responding to MLA SI Jamir said that the ongoing construction of Cultural Hall in Kohima was under litigation and the work was stopped.

The total amount sanctioned for the Cultural Hall is Rs 18.77 crore, including Rs 1.17 crore for landscaping. He also said its completion could only be ascertained after the settlement of the case lying before the Gauhati High Court, Kohima Bench.
