Eight persons, including five women, were killed and 17 injured today when a lorry went out of control and dashed against three vehicles at Kakati village, about 12 km from here, police said.
The lorry was proceeding to Mumbai when one of its tyres burst following which the driver lost control and hit a mini- van, a car and a two-wheeler killing eight persons besides injuring 17 others, police said.
While four of them died on the spot, an equal number of persons died in hospital.
All the injured have been admitted to the district hospital here.
