At least eight persons have been killed and 11 others injured when a passenger bus collided with a tanker in Pakistan's southwestern Balochistan province.

The incident took place yesterday in Khuzdar district of the province. The Karachi-bound bus rammed into the tanker which was coming from the opposite direction, the Dawn reported.

The injured include women and children who were rushed to nearby hospitals where an emergency was declared. The dead bodies were also shifted to the hospital.

According to the prima facie investigations, the driver of the bus lost control due to overspeeding which resulted in the collision of the bus with the tanker, coming from the opposite direction, officials said.

The area has been cordoned off and an investigation has been launched into the case.
