80-year-old man trampled to death

An 80-year-old man was found trampled to death in a forest area coming under Madukkarai forest division near here, police said today.

The man had gone to the area to collect fodder for his goats last evening.

However, he did not return home till night.

He was found lying dead in Solakkarai forest area, with serious bleeding injuries caused by trampling by elephants, police said.

Forest department officials and police rushed to the area and retrieved the body and sent it for post-mortem.
