Nearly 82 per cent of income tax payers in the Indore region filed their return for the financial year 2013-14 using the "electronic return" option.
"A total of 6,58,701 Income Tax returns were filed by people in Indore region and among them 5,36,826 (82 per cent) filed their returns through the option of e-return, while the rest 1,21,875 (18 per cent) filed it through the conventional method of filing IT returns by submitting papers," a senior official of the Indore region Income Tax Department told PTI.
Since the financial year 2008-09, the trend of filing through e-returns has been growing in the region while the practice of filing by submitting papers is declining, the official said.

He also informed that in 2014-14, revenue worth Rs 2,386 crore was collected in Indore area which is 18 per cent more than what was collected in 2012-13.
A total of 16 districts were included in the Income Tax Department's Indore-Ujjain divisions.
