Aam Admi Party (AAP) candidate Armerington Kharshiing today filed his nomination papers to contest from the Shillong seat in the April 9 Lok Sabha elections.
A new face in the political front, former IFS officer Kharshiing was accompanied by party supporters including women and elderly people as he came to file his papers at the office of the returning officer Sanjay Goyal who is also the East Khasi Hills district deputy commissioner.
AAP is the second party to have its candidate file their nominations for the upcoming general elections after the United Democratic Party (UDP) whose candidate Paul Lyngdoh has also filed his papers.

Speaking to reporters, Kharshiing said he was seeking votes solely only on the agenda of his mentor Arvind Kejrival's Jan Lok Pal Bill to bring a new political system in the country.
He expressed confidence that the Jan Lok Pal Bill proposed by his party was the only solution to clean the political system in the country, make it more transparent and ensure maximum benefit to the people.
