An abandoned car parked along the roadside triggered panic in north Kashmir's Baramulla town today, prompting authorities to summon a bomb disposal squad.

The red-color Maruti car was found abandoned on Kanispora- Johamma road in the town, 56 km from here, this morning and was checked by the squad which found a five-liter can containing some urea, soil, nails and a small wire, a police official told PTI here.

However, he said the material was not connected with any circuit or detonator.

The vehicle along with the material was seized and further probe is on, the officer said.

The presence of the abandoned car on the roadside triggered panic as it was suspected that militants might have planted it there to carry out an attack.

Police and Rashtriya Rifles personnel sealed the entire area and the traffic movement was also suspended as a precautionary measure, officials said.

The normal traffic could resume only after three hours after police towed away the vehicle.
