Absconder commits suicide in UP

A 30-year-old man allegedly committed suicide today after absconding from the custody of Sandana police here, police said.

Rajendra, a resident of Junadanpur village, was arrested and brought to Sandana police station last night for eloping with a girl of the same village, they said.

Today Rajendra absconded from the police station on the pretext of going to relieve himself, In-charge of Sandana police station, Jay Shankar Singh said, adding that later he was found hanging from a mango tree in the village.

Prima facie it appears to be a suicide, Singh said.

However, Rajendra's family suspects that he was murdered.
