'The Anchorman' director Adam McKay has pulled out of negotiations with Marvel to replace director Edgar Wright as the director of 'Ant-Man'.

McKay confirmed that he met the producers behind the movie but said he could not commit due to scheduling conflicts, reported the Wrap.

"And yes, met with Marvel. Kirby & Lee are my Lennon McCartney so it was awesome. But have other projects I'm committed to. Not sure it can work (sic)," McKay tweeted.

Marvel will have to restart its search for a director. 'We're the Millers' helmer Rawson Marshall Thurber and Ruben Fleischer of 'Zombieland' fame are said to be in the race now that McKay is out of the picture.

'Ant-Man' star Paul Rudd was among those lobbying for McKay to replace Wright.

Wright left the project due to creative differences with Marvel boss.
