Students of AIIMS today held a candlelight vigil on its campus to pay tribute to the 18 soldiers martyred in the terror attack at Uri sector of Jammu and Kashmir.

The students began their march from the boys' hostel and walked up to the Jawahar Lal Nehru auditorium showing solidarity with the bereaved families, an AIIMS official said.

In one of the deadliest attacks on the Army in recent years, 18 jawans were killed and 19 injured as heavily armed militants stormed a battalion headquarters of the force in Uri town in the wee hours on September 18.

The attack has left the nation benumbed and prompted tributes to the fallen soldiers from various parts of the country.
