Anti-socials trying to create disharmony in society: Sonowal

Assam Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal today said that some anti-social elements are trying to create disharmony in the society which will not be tolerated.

"The rights of all genuine citizens of the country would be upheld at any cost but illegal immigrants would not be given shelter in the state," the Chief Minister said while launching the Ujjwala Scheme at Golokganj in Dhubri.

He also asked people to be alert in thwarting any design of anti-social elements and asked them not to allow any district to be used as a shelter for illegal immigrants.

He said that the government was committed to accord ST status to six communities and a decision in this regard would be taken very soon.
 

All check-gates in the state would be removed in view of GST rollout, he said.

Sonowal said that to ensure development of rural women belonging to below poverty line, both the Central and state governments have taken several steps with the Ujjwala scheme enabling many rural women get access to free LPG connection.
