AP to shut down illegal liquor vends: CM

Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy today said his government would take steps to shut down all illegal liquor vends in the state.

The government would act tough against unauthorised liquor shops spread across the state, he said in an interaction with Self-Help Group women at Eluru in West Godavari district.

Union Rural Development Minister Jairam Ramesh, who participated in the meeting, also favoured removal of illegal liquor vends.

The Chief Minister said the government would take steps to build toilets for every household in the state.

About the 'Bangaru Thalli' scheme recently launched by the state government for the well-being of girl child, he said the state would get passed a legislation on the programme to ensure its effective implementation.
 

As per the scheme, the mother would be given Rs 2,500 after the birth of a girl child and Rs 2,000 for two years for the vaccination of the baby girl.
