Andhra Pradesh government has taken strong exception to the "high-handed behaviour" of Telangana government against their Additional Commissioner of Labour, Murali Sagar and reported the matter to Governor E S L Narasimhan soliciting his intervention.
"Sleuths of Hyderabad city police Task Force yesterday dragged the driver out of the government vehicle and hijacked Murali in the car and took him to the Building and Other Construction Workers' Welfare Board office and harassed him. Not stopping at that, they also raided Murali's house and harassed his family members.
All this in the name of diversion of Board funds to AP account where, in fact, not a single paisa was transferred," Andhra Pradesh government's communication advisor Parakala Prabhakar said here this evening.
"The atrocious behaviour of the so-called sleuths, who resembled rowdies, cannot be described. They did not care about the officer's stature. All this only exposed the Telangana government's scant respect for law and the Constitution," Parakala told reporters without mincing words.
"The Telangana government had been highhandedly violating the AP Reorganisation Act from day one. It happened in the case of National Academy of Construction, National Institute of Tourism and Hotel Management, Acharya N G Ranga Agricultural University, Institute of Electronic Governance and other institutions that were listed in Schedules IX or X of the Act or those not listed.
Are they conscious of the fact that a law and the Constitution exist," Parakala questioned angrily.
Referring to Murali's incident, the advisor said AP's share of funds in the Board as per the Reorganisation Act was 58 per cent amounting to Rs 850 crore and Telangana's share Rs 613 crore.
Of the total AP share, only Rs 185 crore was lying in banks within the state and another Rs 267 crore in public deposit accounts.
"A sum of Rs 1011 crore is lying in the Telangana area, including Rs 398 crore belonging to AP. This amount (Rs 398 crore) has been moved from Hyderabad to banks in Vijayawada by the Board as per instructions of AP Chief Secretary," Parakala pointed out.
