Arms hidden by poachers seized by police

Illegal arms hidden by poachers were seized from a paddy field during a police operation in Assam's Sonitpur district, police sources said today.

On specific information, a joint operation by the police from Bokajan of Karbi Anglong district and Sootea police station late last night recovered a .303 rifle, a 2.2 bore rifle and US-make carbine hidden in the paddy field at Bokabil village by a group of five poachers, the sources said.

Stating that the arms were to be taken to Karbi Anglong today, the sources said a search operation was launched to trace the poachers.
