State Director General (DG) Prisons, K Rajendra Kumar today visited the Kot Bhalwal jail in Jammu and reviewed security arrangements in there.
Kumar visited the jail along with DIG Jammu, Shakeel Ahmed Beig and Additional SP Jammu (rural), Rajesh Sharma, to review the security and interact with inmates, a police spokesman said here.
This is the first major security review after the death of Pak prisoner Sannaullah, who was grievously injured during a scuffle with an inmate in Kot Bhalwal prison on May 3 and was airlifted to Chandigarh for the treatment, where he breathed his last on May 9.
The DG Prison held detailed discussions regarding problems faced by local as well as Pakistani prisoners and enquired about their welfare.
He inspected most barracks and the administrative block of the jail and directed officers of Jail department to remain extra vigilant on inmates to avoid any untoward incident inside the premises.
