As part of efforts to

put an end to open defecation, Sulabh International Social Service Organisation (SISSO) has started constructing hybrid toilets in this town.

To begin with, two such complexes having 17 seats are being set up at a cost of about Rs 44 lakh in Berhampur Municipal Corporation areas, said BMC engineer Asim Mishra.

The hybrid toilet complexes with 505 seats will be set up in around 70 places in the town under Atal Mission for Rejuvenation and Urban Transformation (AMRUT) yojana by the end of March 2017.

"We have identified 16 locations so far. Of them two locations have been approved by the SISSO," Mishra said.
 

The foundation stone for construction of two such complexes near Mango market and Ramalingam tank road here have already been laid.
