Asaram sent to one-day policy custody

A court here today sent self-styled godman Asaram Bapu, accused of sexually assaulting a 16-year-old girl, to one-day police custody.

72-year-old Asaram was produced before District and Sessions Judge (Rural) Manoj K Vyas who remanded him in one-day police custody.

Earlier, Asaram was questioned by Jodhpur Police for about four hours at Rajasthan Armed Constabulary Battalion Campus in Mandore.

The controversial spiritual guru was arrested from his ashram at Indore amid high drama midnight last night.

The sexual assault allegedly took place at Asaram's Manai ashram following which a case was initially registered in Delhi and later transferred to Jodhpur for probe.
