Assam to introduce file tracking system

Assam government has decided to introduce "File tracking" mechanism as part of its effort to bring in transparency in governance and to allow common people track the position of a file.

Once this new system is inducted in Finance Department, it will be replicated in all the departments of the government, Finance Minister Himanta Biswa Sarmah said at a meeting with Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal here.

Finance Department will also take recourse to 'on-line' system to prepare budget and distribute the same to all offices and maintain a constant link with the Reserve Bank of India through a Core Banking Solution 'e-Kuber', an official release said here.
 

Besides taking help of 'on-line' mode for preparing salary bills, preparation for a comprehensive data base for all government employees are in the agenda of priorities o the department.

The Chief Minister during the meeting stressed on furnishing timely utilisation certificates against different schemes by the departments and timely completion of major welfare schemes within three years.

If a particular department can not fully complete the scheme within the stipulated period, the head of the department would show the cause for it, he said.

The Chief Minister also stressed on the need for a comprehensive and planned development of the tourism sector in Assam.

He stressed the need for adequate publicity of State's tourism potentials like wild life, cultural heritage, tea and rural tourism, sports and river tourism etc.
