An Assamese youth was killed during a clash between two groups of migrant labourers at Shirur Muddumane in Udupi district, police said.
The deceased has been identified as Mahendraraj Bonsi (22), police said.
A dispute arose between the two groups over job opportunities in the area and it resulted in the clash and Bonsi's murder yesterday, police said.

Many labourers from Assam were working on daily wages at Shirur Muddumane and nearby Mandarti village. Bonsi and three others, working at Mandarti, had gone to Shirur to talk about the dispute.
A clash ensued and three people belonging to the rival group allegedly attacked Bonsi with a sickle. He was seriously injured in the attack and taken to a nearby hospital where he succumbed to injuries, police said.
