District authorities in Gurdaspur today imposed a ban on sowing of high-rising crops along side Indo-Pak border to prevent intrusion of anti-social elements, including militants, flow of arms and ammunition and narcotics from the neighbouring country.
"On the request of BSF, we have imposed a ban on sowing of high-rising crops which includes sugarcane and cotton along side Indo-Pak border," Deputy Commissioner, Gurdaspur, Abhinav Trikha said.
However, there will be no ban on sowing of paddy, wheat and other crops.
The ban will remain in force till May 27.
