A security guard died in a fire which broke out in the main branch of the Punjab National Bank here.
Besides furniture, computers and some other equipment were also gutted while cash lying in the bank's currency chest remained safe, said Rajender Yadav, Assistant General Manager of the bank.
The fire, which broke out last night in which security guard Mahipal (45) died, appeared to have been caused by a short circuit, he said.
Deputy Commissioner R C Verma, who visited the site at night, said today that the cause of the fire was being probed.
The deceased was a resident of Manesar area of Gurgaon district and was a retired soldier of the Indian Army.
