Barley prices fell further by another Rs 18.50 to Rs 1,546 per quintal in futures trade today after participants trimmed their exposure at prevailing levels.
At the National Commodity and Derivative Exchange, barley for delivery in May declined by Rs 18.50, or 1.18 per cent to Rs 1,546 per quintal, having an open interest of 10,870 lots.
On similar lines, barley for delivery in April was trading Rs 12, or 0.78 per cent, down at Rs 1,520 per quintal, in an open interest of 3,950 lots.
Marketmen attributed persistent fall in barley prices at futures trade to offloading of positions at current levels by speculators amid increased arrivals in the spot markets from growing regions.
