Bear creating panic trapped

A bear which has been creating panic in a nearby village here for the last one week and moving around in daylight in search of food, was trapped by the forest department today.

The bear strayed into Vazhathottam village about a week ago and was spotted moving around during daylight triggering panic among the villagers.

Forest department officials who spotted the animal near a culvert last evening, kept a cage with fruits in it and waited for the bear to enter it, department officials said.

The bear entered the cage this afternoon, the officials said, adding, the animal was being treated as it had bleeding injuries on its shoulder.
