West Bengal government has set up 152 clusters in micro, small and medium enterprises, handloom and khadi sectors to generate more than four lakh jobs in the state, according to state Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee.
In the party manifesto before the 2011 assembly polls, she said they had targetted to set up 17 clusters across the state to give micro, small and medium industries sector a new trajectory of growth and efficiency and generate huge employment.
"I am indeed happy to share with you that we have set up 152 new clusters in three years of our Government in the MSME, handloom and khadi sector. These clusters are going to generate more than 4 lakh employment in the state," Banerjee said on Facebook.

She said over the three years of their government, more than 35,000 new units in MSE sector have been set up in the state with employment of nearly 3,20,000.
"And this is just only in the MSE sector. Across all other sectors, lot of developments are taking place to take forward our state comprehensively. Our synergy with various departments to help the entrepreneurs is yielding results," Banerjee said.
