Betty White faces death hoax

A satirical article about Betty White sparked an online death hoax about the 92-year-old celebrity.

The title of the article in a magazine read, "Actress Betty White, 92, Dyes Peacefully In Her Los Angeles Home" but fans misconstrued the wordplay.

The story was about White's penchant for colouring her brunette locks to look blonde.

Soon fans started posting about her death, prompting her agent to release a statement to put a stop to such stories.

"She is on the set shooting Hot in Cleveland right now," Jeff Witjas told the Los Angeles Times.
