BJP today demanded a CBI probe into the communal clashes in Kishtwar, besides immediate shifting of DIG Doda-Kishtwar Range and compensation for the losses of shops and other business establishments in Kishtwar town.
"We demand CBI probe in the Kishtwar violence, besides compensation for losses of shops and other business establishments in Kishtwar town and immediate shifting of DIG Doda-Kishtwar Range," leader of BJP legislature party and national executive member Ashok Khajuria and national executive member Nirmal Singh told reporters here after returning from Kishtwar.
45 shops belonging to minorities were damaged in 1993, 34 shops were gutted in arson in 1998 and 55 more damaged in 2003 in Kishtwar, they said.

Possibility of a nefarious political game plan cannot be ruled out as the NC and Congress leaders of Kishtwar constituency are fearing their defeat in the next elections, the BJP leaders said.
They also lauded the role of Village Defence Committees (VDCs) and urged upon the state government not to disband them.
