BJP today swept to power in the Nagpur Municipal Corporation for a straight third term, winning 108 of the total 151 seats.
Being the hometown of Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis, the election in the city was prestigious for the ruling BJP in Maharashtra.
Congress won 29 seats, BSP 10, Shiv Sena 2 , NCP 1 and an independent candidate won one seat.

Some tension prevailed in ward 21 due to delay in announcement of results there and police resorted to lathicharge.
The city Congress chief Vikas Thakre lost his seat in the election.
In the last NMC elections, BJP had secured 62 seats and Congress had won 41.
Total 1135 candidates were in the fray for 151 seats in 38 'Prabhags' this time.
The new Mayor is expected to be elected on March 5.
