Black pepper recovers in renewed demand

Black pepper recovered in an otherwise mute spices market here today due to renewed demand from stockists and retailers.

However, ginger bleached and unbleached dropped due to subdued demand from retailers.

Meanwhile, all other copra varieties ruled stable in the absence of necessary buying support.

Black pepper rise by Rs 5 per kg to 670/740 from Wednesday's closing level of Rs 665/735. While, ginger bleached and unbleached declined by Rs 10 per kg each to Rs 210 and Rs 230 as compared to Rs 220 and Rs 240.

Following are today's closing rates (in Rs with previous rates in brackets):
 

Black pepper (per kg) 670/740 (665/735), ginger bleached (per kg) 210 (220), ginger unbleached (per kg) 230 (240), copra office Alapuzha (per quintal) 7,500 (7,500), copra office Kozhikode (per quintal) 7,400 (7,400), copra Rajapur Mumbai (per quintal) 17,800 (17,900), copra edible Mumbai (per quintal) 9,300 (9,300).
