Bhagwan Mahavir Vikalang Sahayata Samiti (BMVSS), the makers of Jaipur Foot, will soon set up a centre in Mauritius.

The centre will be set up in association with charitable organisation Global Rainbow Foundation (GRF). BMVSS founder and chief patron D R Mehta is in Mauritius for signing a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with GRF, a press statement by the organisation said.

GRF will launch the Jaipur Foot Project in Mauritius in two phases and would call it the 'Gift of Mobility'. BMVSS will provide it with technical help. The organisation recently held a camp there which benefited 400 amputees, it said.

"Inspired by the success, GRF has proposed to set up a permanent centre following which the decision was taken. ...We will gift 100 foot pieces every year for smooth running of the centre. Training to their personnel will also be provided," Mehta was quoted as saying in the release.

The centre to be set up at Port Louise will be called 'Mahaveer Indradhanush Artificial Limb Centre of Mauritius'.

Mehta said the organisation has set up similar camps in Columbia, Pakistan, Philippines and one will be shortly opened in Kabul also. The organisation has benefited over 1.3 million people with Jaipur Foot worldwide.
