Some unidentified persons today hurled bombs at the house of a man at Sheikh Bazar in the city sparking panic in the area, the police said.

"A case has been registered and investigations are on," said sub-inspector Lambodar Majhi of Lalbag police station.

The house of Prakash Behera (Chakulia), who was exonerated in the Kesav (Kesia) Behera murder case of 2013, was targeted after his release from custody after a trial court pronounced him not guilty.

Majhi said at least three bombs exploded on the spot, but no one was injured.

The attack was an outcome of a previous rivalry, he said.

Chakulia, along with two others, were acquitted by an additional sessions court here on May 20, while five others arrested in the Kesia murder case were sentenced to life imprisonment after they were convicted under section 302 (murder) of the IPC.

Kesia Behera, who was the secretary of Sheikh Bazaar puja committee, was shot near his house in the wee hours of July 7, 2013. He received six bullet injuries and died while being rushed to the hospital.
