Bus driver takes air passengers to wrong terminal; suspended

An Air India ferry bus driver at the airport here was today suspended for allegedly taking passengers who arrived from Sharjah to the domestic terminal instead of the international terminal, where they have to undergo immigration and customs clearance.

The passengers arrived by an Air India Express (AIE) flight and were taken in the bus, handled by the Air India Transport Service, to the domestic terminal.

He was suspended after the lapse on his part was reported to authorities this morning, an AIE official said.

The passengers were later taken to the arrival section of the International Terminal where they underwent the immigration and customs clearance process before exit.
 

A spokesman of the Cochin International Airport Ltd (CIAL) said the airport authorities have odered a probe into the incident.
