Services of a clerk working in a government department in Chhattisgarh has been terminated for his alleged involvement in the embezzlement of over Rs 7 lakh and his absence from work without intimation.
"The state Gramodyog Directorate(silk department) clerk Ranjit Ekka (assistant grade-3) has been terminated from his duties with immediate effect," an official statement said here today.
The state Gramodyog Directorate had issued a termination order last week.

Ekka had stopped going to office since April 9, 2013 without intimating his superiors. Besides, he was allegedly involved in the embezzlement of funds to the tune of Rs 7,77,822, it added.
Following a complaint of his unauthorised absence from his official duties at Jashpur-based assistant director's office (silk department), an inquiry had been ordered, the statement said.
"The probe found him to be guilty of embezzlement of funds to the tune of Rs 7,77,822 and unauthorised absence from his official duties," it added.
