: Dr K Padmarajan, a native of Mettur in Salem (Tamil Nadu) filed his nomination for the September 28 biennial election to the lone Rajya Sabha seat from here today.
The 55-year old candidate who filed the papers as an Independent on the opening day to present papers today before the Returning Officer S.Mohandoss, also presented the deposit along with the nomination papers, official sources said.
Dr Padmarajan is an election enthusiast and has a penchant to contest the polls.He is a homeopathy practitioner.
The process of election began today with publication of the statutory notification of the Election Commission.
The last date to file the papers for the poll is September 18, as per a schedule released by the Election Commission
The election has become necessary as the term of office of the present incumbent P Kannan (Congress) will end on October 6.
