Carcass of a leopard was today recovered from jungles of Devipur beat in Mohammadi range under south Kheri forest division.
Mohammadi range officials spotted the carcass, Divisional forest officer (DFO) Neeraj Kumar said.
Ruling out any foul play behind leopard's death, DFO said that all the parts of the carcass including skin, jaws, paws, nails have been found intact.
"Two puncture wounds have been detected below the neck, which apparently suggests that death occurred during fight with some canine," he said.
Bhira, Mohammadi and Mailani forests in south Kheri division provide a corridor to the Dudhwa animals.
Being close to Kishanpur sanctuary of Dudhwa, these jungles witness a frequent movements of big cats as well as other animals.
