BJP today alleged that the Samajwadi Party government in Uttar Pradesh was "ruing" about shortage of resources in the face of massive crop loss even as the Centre has given calamity relief fund to the state.

"When the Centre had already given calamity relief fund to the state, the government is ruing about shortage of resources. Instead of providing relief, cheques of Rs 75 and Rs 100 are being distributed, which is like rubbing salt on the wounds of the farmers," BJP state president Laxmi Kant Bajpai alleged.

He expressed gratitude towards Prime Minister Narendra Modi for reducing crop damage criteria for providing compensation to affected farmers from 50 per cent to 33 per cent.

On land acquisition Bill, Bajpai said that prima facie agriculturable land would not be acquired and if it was done then four time higher compensation would be paid along with job to a family member.

He said that even those working on contractual farming would get employment.
