A minor gang rape victim has been paid a compensation of Rs 3 lakh by the Chandigarh administration on the orders of the National Human Rights Commission.

The Commission had registered the case on the basis of a complaint on December 24, 2013 that a girl student of class X had been subjected to gang rape by five police personnel for two months, said an NHRC statement.

In response to the notices of the Commission, it was informed that all the allegations were found true and action had been taken against the guilty police personnel.

"On the intervention of NHRC, the Union Territory Administration of Chandigarh has paid Rs 3 lakh as relief to the victim who was gang-raped by five constables in Chandigarh Police.

"All the five accused were arrested and dismissed from service," the statement said.
