A Chinese man who had swiftly divorced his wife after winning a whopping seven lakh dollars in lottery, has been ordered by a court to share part of his winnings with his ex-wife, media reported today.

Liu Xiang of Chongqing city, who was said to have an extra marital affair, received the 4.6 million yuan (USD 722,089) lottery prize money on February 26, one day after he divorced his wife.

He demanded an immediate divorce from his wife Yuan Li in February, offering to cover the 250,000 yuan debts the couple owed. Li said she had no choice but to sign the divorce agreement, Hing Kong's South China Morning Post quoted her as saying.

Liu claimed the prize money from a lottery centre the day after the couple divorced, the report said. Li only found out when her friends congratulated her on his good fortune.

She then sued her ex-husband, demanding half the prize money, arguing it should be shared evenly as the man bought the lottery ticket when they were still married.

She was awarded 1.15 million yuan (USD 180,597) in compensation by the court, the Hong Kong's paper quoted Chongqing Morning Post as saying.
