Elections to six municipal corporations and bye-elections in three wards of two municipal corporations of Jalandhar and Patiala will be held on February 22.
Punjab State Election Commissioner Shivinder Singh Brar today announced that elections to municipal corporations of Pathankot, Hoshiarpur, Phagwara, Moga, SAS Nagar and Bathinda and bye-elections to Ward No 49 (General) of municipal corporation of Jalandhar and Ward No 8 (BC) and 46 (General) of municipal corporation of Patiala will be held on February 22.
There are 300 wards, 849 booths and around 7,91,765 voters in the six corporations.

The State Election Commissioner further said of the 300 wards, 145 are in General category, 77 in General (Women), 41 Scheduled Caste, 25 Scheduled Caste (Women) and 12 in Backward Class.
The notification in this regard would be issued tomorrow and the Model Code of Conduct (MCC) would come into effect in those areas which fall within the jurisdiction of the respective municipal corporations and the three wards of the two municipal corporations where bye-elections are to be held, Brar said.
The last date for nominations would be Februray 11, date of scrutiny February 12 and last date of withdrawal is February 13, he said, adding counting of votes will take place on February 26.
The official said that all required election materials have been dispatched to the districts. The EVMs were undergoing inspection to be declared election worthy.
The DGP of Punjab has been requested to ensure proper and adequate security for the electoral process, he added.
The SEC have put up registers to record every complaint, a record would be maintained and all complaints would be fully followed up.
