Telangana unit Congress president N Uttam Kumar Reddy today alleged reservation of sarpanches was not being done in a scientific manner and demanded that the state government come clear on the reservation policy for the coming panchayat elections.
He said the state government should explain the basis on which seats were being reserved in the Panchayat elections.
There were lot of contradictions in the new Panchayat Raj Act (of the state) and its implementation, he alleged.
"Therefore, the government must come clear on reservation policy in the Panchayat polls," Reddy, who turned 56 today, said speaking after accepting greetings by party leaders and activists on the occasion.
He also demanded that the findings of Intensive Household Survey, conducted by the state government in August 2014, be made public.

Reddy announced that Congress would soon convene mandal-level meetings to discuss reservation of seats for Sarpanches.
Congress is fully prepared to face and win the Panchayat elections which are likely to be held soon, he said.
He expressed his resolve to work hard and bring the Congress to power in the state.
