Congress today condemned the 'foisting' of false charges in the National Herald case against party president Sonia Gandhi and vice-president Rahul Gandhi and urged party workers to continue demonstrations organised here till the case was withdrawn.

"The purpose of such protest demonstrations by Congress should continue till the case against the leaders is withdrawn as otherwise the NDA government will keep on filing baseless cases against our leaders," AICC Secretary Dr G Chinna Reddy, in charge of party affairs in Puducherry, said here today.

Addressing volunteers of different wings of opposition Congress, he said BJPs poor performance in assembly polls in Bihar and Delhi and also in the panchayat polls in Gujarat showed that the NDA government was losing ground as "nothing had taken place in the developmental spheres in the country as a whole, including in Puducherry".

He also took a dig at the Rangasamy-led government here, saying it too was non performing like the Narendra Modi government at the Centre.

AICC General Secretary V Narayanasamy, PCC president A Namassivayam, MLA and leader of the opposition V Vaithilingam were among those who addressed the workers.
