"The words used by him are not only derogatory but unbecoming of a person who is holding an elected post," the MLA said. Rana was arrested on Monday after a court directed police to do so.
Rana, MLA from Rithala constituency, has been chargesheeted under the Scheduled Castes and Schedules Tribes (Prevention of Atrocities Act) and was taken into custody after he surrendered before Additional Sessions Judge Kamini Lau.
He had moved an anticipatory bail after his surrender, which was rejected by the court saying the nature of offence was serious. A case against Rana was lodged on a complaint by 53-year-old Karan Singh, who is a member of BJP's Kisaan Morcha and also a property dealer.
